About The Officers

Officers of the Richmond Association include a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. Officers are elected for a one-year term at the annual meeting of the Association. The Past-President serves as the chair of the nominating committee and is a member of the Executive Committee.

President

E. Wayne Powell, RA President (Vice President of RA, 2012-13). Wayne Powell is an attorney with the Powell Law Group in Richmond, VA. He graduated from the University of Richmond and was initiated into Phi Beta Kappa in 1972.

Vice President

Dr. Wilson Sprenkle, RA Vice President 2013-14. A Richmond native, Dr. Wilson B. Sprenkle finished his undergraduate studies at the University of Richmond in 1968 and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Epsilon chapter in 1969. After receiving an M.D. degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1974, Wilson practiced medicine for 37 years. He is now retired.

Treasurer

Fred Hodnett, RA Treasurer. Fred has served as Treasurer of the Association since 2009. He graduated from the University of Richmond and was initiated into Phi Beta Kappa in 1966. In addition to his 23 year military career, Fred is an attorney who retired after serving as the Assistant Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia from which he retired.

Secretary

Patricia Crocker has served as secretary since the fall of 2016. She received her BS degree in math from the University of Wisconsin where she was initiated into Phi Beta Kappa in 1971. She taught math for 34 years, retiring in 2016 from Richard Bland College. As secretary, she has been in charge of contacting area schools concerning the annual scholarship and receiving the applications.

Past-President

Catherine E. Ingrassia, Ph.D. Catherine previously served as Vice President and then President of the Association, 2011-13. She is a Professor of English at Virginia Commonwealth University. Catherine graduated from Grinnell College and was intiated into Phi Beta Kappa in 1984.
